When you make a hotel booking online, SSL encrypts your credit card details as they travel over the Internet. This encryption makes credit card transactions over the Internet as secure as purchasing by telephone.
SSL Technology
The SSL encryption process converts the information you enter into bits of code which are securely transmitted over the Internet when you submit your booking form. This scrambled data cannot be read as the information travels over the Internet. Once the encrypted data is received by our secure server, it is translated back into it’s original form so that our systems can read and process it. Your credit card information is not transmitted over the Internet again.
How do I know if a website is secure?
When you are asked to enter your credit card details on a secure booking form, you will see a small padlock icon appear at the bottom of your browser window or in your address bar which looks like this:

Also, you will notice that on secure booking forms, the address line changes slightly to reflect that the page is hosted on a secure server. The normal ‘http:’ at the beginning of the URL becomes ‘https:’, where the ’s’ indicates a secure connection.
